Friends In Low Places Bar & Honky-Tonk Brings Bold Lights To Nashville's Lower Broad
Garth Brooks is known for giving country music fans the ultimate entertainment experience. The same is true at his Friends In Low Places Bar & Honky-Tonk on Nashville's Lower Broadway.
"What we've done is out of the ordinary," says Garth's longtime lighting director, David "Gig" Butzler. "Garth always wants additional added… and he refers to it as cheese."
"Everything from lights, to sound, to the big video walls came from the Stadium tour," Brooks says. "It's what anyone who has ever been to a Garth show expects."
"To Garth, everything is entertainment," Gig says. "When you look up, Garth wants the action of the light itself to be entertaining."
While there's rarely such a thing as too much cheese, Gig says all the lights will never be on at once. They're strategically used for effect.
Benjamin Goldberg of Strategic Hospitality, who is heading up the bar's renovation, explains “Everything in this honky-tonk is on 11."
"The sound system, the light system, the screens, all those things are just over and above what people expect when they walk into a bar environment," he says. "If you've been to a Garth show, it feels different than when you go to 99 percent of other people's concerts. The bar is the same. It's just over the top."
