TRISHA YEARWOOD PAYS TRIBUTE TO MUSICAL HERO LINDA RONSTADT WITH “AN EVENING WITH TRISHA YEARWOOD: SONGBOOK – ARTISTS & ALBUMS THAT LED THE WAY” AT THE BLUEBIRD CAFÉ

Trisha Yearwood performed Linda Ronstadt’s landmark album Simple Dreams from start to finish during “An Evening with Trisha Yearwood: Songbook-Artists & Albums That Led The Way” at Nashville’s legendary Bluebird Café on May 2.

Released in 1977, Simple Dreams contains the hits “It’s So Easy,” “Blue Bayou,” “Poor, Poor Pitiful Me” and “I Never Will Marry,” the duet with Dolly Parton.  The album spent five weeks at the top of the charts.  Ronstadt became the first female artist ever to have two songs in the top 5 at the same time, with “Blue Bayou” and “It’s So Easy.”

Yearwood often speaks of her love and admiration for Ronstadt.  She Tweeted after the show, “When I had the idea of ‘Songbooks: Artists and Albums that Led the Way’ at the Bluebird, it absolutely had to begin with Linda Ronstadt. That’s where it all started for me and the reason I love a sad song! (IYKYK) Thank you, Ms. Ronstadt, for changing my life with simple dreams.”
