Garth Brooks Surprises Fans Ahead of the Grand Ole Opry’s 100th Anniversary

Country music’s most iconic radio show — The Grand Ole Opry -- turns 100 on Black Friday this year, November 28. Fans got an early taste of the excitement when Garth Brooks made a surprise appearance during Friday night’s Opry, broadcast live on WSM from the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville.

“The good thing about a birthday party is that sometimes it can turn into a surprise party,” said Opry host Kelly Sutton as she was introducing Garth to the audience. “With over 35 years of membership, he decided he would stop by.”

Garth walked into the Opry’s hallowed circle where he was met with frenzied fan applause.

Up-and-coming country singer/songwriter Morgan Alexander watched Garth’s 25-minute set from backstage. Alexander called the experience a “musical masterclass.”

“Nothing beats a night at the Opry,” Garth said after the show.

With Garth already setting the tone, anticipation is building for what promises to be one of the most significant nights in the Opry’s storied history.
