GARTH BROOKS SETS NEW ATTENDANCE RECORD AT BST HYDE PARK, PERFORMING FOR 70,000 IN HIS FIRST U.K. SHOW IN ALMOST 30 YEARS

The excitement leading up to Garth Brooks’ headlining concert at BST Hyde Park was palpable.  He hadn’t performed in the U.K. in almost three decades, and the show had been sold out for weeks.

A brilliant double rainbow that appeared over the stage just minutes before showtime seemed to be nature’s way of marking the landmark occasion.

Fans knew they were in for an unforgettable evening, but they didn’t know they were about to make history.  Before Garth took the stage, the festival made an announcement: “You turned out in such incredible numbers today that the promoter actually had to increase the site’s capacity. Because of all of you, this is now officially the biggest show ever to play at BST Hyde Park!  Thank you for making history with us. Let’s make it a night to remember!”

Setting a new BST Hyde Park attendance record was no small feat when you consider the artists who have performed at the festival over the years, including the Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, Elton John, the Eagles, Pearl Jam, Adele, Stevie Wonder, and Guns ‘n’ Roses.

As he promised at the beginning of the show, Garth brought all “the old stuff” the crowd expected to hear.  And they showed their appreciation by singing along with every word.

“Normally the magic comes from the stage but today it came from the audience,” Garth said. “I am shocked at the love that was sent this way tonight!"
