From Muse to Mastermind: Trisha Yearwood Produces Her Own Story in The Mirror

Trisha will release The Mirror, her first new album in six years, on Friday, July 18. The collection is the first time she has co-written and co-produced her entire album.

In this four-part series, Garth shares his professional thoughts on The Mirror. For part four, Garth highlights Trisha's newfound skills as a producer.

Garth Brooks isn't the only influential Garth in Trisha Yearwood's life.

Garth Fundis produced Trisha's albums, including Hearts in Armor and The Song Remembers When. Trisha co-produced The Mirror with Chad Carlson. Chad engineered for Garth Fundis.

Garth explains what Trisha brought to The Mirror as a producer:

For me, the one thing we are all missing about this record is that she is also PRODUCING this record. She has teamed up with Chad Carlson, both of them students of the great Garth Fundis, and they have delivered honesty and intimacy at high quality.

Most artists are heavily involved in their own records, and you watch the producer do his or her thing, and you learn. There are records where you can tell the producer is the real star. Those records are clearly the producer's records. Then there are the records where the songs and how they are performed and recorded become the star. That's this record. Just on first listen, you can feel the freedom the players were given to voice their 'take' on what the song was saying and how it should be told.

Like I said, she learns at a rapid rate. So, it doesn't surprise me this record sounds sooooo good. The main reason this record is as good as it is is because Trisha Yearwood is known around this town as being a song's best friend. Her level of class, work ethic, and sincerity have been witnessed and admired by all who work here and by all who listen out there.

Trisha Yearwood...Writer, singer, producer...I salute you and I love you.

Friday, we hear from the Queen herself. Trisha will share her experience recording and releasing The Mirror.
