FROM DOUBLE LIVE TO TRIPLE LIVE DELUXE AND THE LATEST LIMITED SERIES BOXED SET

The Story of Garth’s Live Recordings on the 25th Anniversary of Double Live’s Release, With Help From The Anthology, Part II: The Next Five Years

Garth released Double Live, his first live recording, on November 17, 1998. With 25 tracks on two CDs, including three new songs, the set offered over 100 minutes of music recorded during his 1996-98 World Tour.  Six different collectable CD covers and booklets focused on highlights of his career, including performing in Central Park; “crowd surfing” at Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland; and singing in fire and rain at Texas Stadium in 1993.

According to the RIAA, Double Live is the best-selling live album in music history, with RIAA-certified sales of over 21 million. Double Live sold 1,085,373 copies in its first week.  At the time, that was not only a record for first-week sales, but for any one-week sales period by any artist.  Double Live debuted at the top of the Billboard Top 200 and Country Albums charts, and it stayed at the top of the Billboard Top 200 chart for five weeks.

Double Live contains some of Garth’s best-loved hits, but what about the new songs?  What happened when Garth invited Keith Urban to add some monster guitar licks to “Tearin’ It Up (And Burnin’ It Down)?”  How did Pam Wolfe and Benita Hill, songwriters of “It’s Your Song,” feel when Garth performed the song for his mom?  And how do Garth and Trisha describe the magic of performing “Wild as the Wind” in Las Vegas in 1997? These stories and more can be found in The Anthology, Part II: The Next Five Years, available here.

In 2016, Garth released a special 25th Anniversary Edition of Double Live to celebrate 25 years of touring.  It includes the #1 hit “More Than a Memory” and other special live performances recorded after Double Live’s release, including “Good Ride Cowboy,” his tribute to Chris LeDoux from the 2005 CMA Awards.

During his comeback tour in 2014, Garth made a discovery that prompted the release of Triple Live Deluxe.  As he explains in The Anthology, Part II, “We start ‘Callin’ Baton Rouge,’ and the crowd comes out of their seats, and they get loud!  ‘I spent last night in the arms of a girl from Louisiana . . .’ The crowd goes up on ‘Louisiana.’ The record stays down on ‘Louisiana.’ And then I realize, it goes up on the Double Live record . . . Double Live was the bridge between 1998 and 2014.  They had it, they learned it, and now they came to live it.”

Garth released Triple Live Deluxe in 2020. With 30 tracks on three CDs, it captures the passion and thrills of the record-breaking Garth Brooks World Tour with Trisha Yearwood and the Garth Brooks Stadium Tour. It was originally available with six different covers featuring tour highlights and a CD booklet with concert photos.

Now, Triple Live Deluxe finds a new home in Garth’s Limited Series boxed set, the last limited series collection of his career, available exclusively through Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s.  The special Bass Pro edition of Triple Live Deluxe comes with a CD booklet featuring photos from Garth’s 2022 concerts celebrating the opening of Bass Pro Shops Thunder Ridge Arena® near Branson, Missouri.
