Garth Brooks & the magic of Christmas is a collection of Garth’s favorite Christmas songs performed with the big band sound of strings, horns and a choir. Songs included “Let It Snow,” “White Christmas,” “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen,” “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” “Go Tell It On The Mountain” and “Silver Bells.” One single was released: “Baby Jesus Is Born.”
“It’s traditional songs done in the traditional way,” Garth told ABC News. “So I feel real good about it. It sounds like the stuff I heard growing up as a child, the stuff I play behind wrapping presents and doing the tree.”
The album was accompanied by a Dick Clark-produced NBC special, Garth Brooks & the Magic of Christmas, filmed in various locations in New York including the Rainbow Room at Rockefeller Center, and the skating rink at Central Park. Garth hosted the special and was joined by guests Trisha Yearwood, Tony Bennett, Dorothy Hamill and Natalie Cole.
Garth Brooks & the Magic of Christmas is RIAA certified for sales in excess of 1 million units.
