Garth co-wrote eight of the ten songs on 1995’s Fresh Horses. There is a western flavor to the material that is reminiscent of Garth’s self-titled 1989 debut, with haunting songs like “The Beaches of Cheyenne” and “That Ol’ Wind.” The album also includes "The Change" for which Garth made a powerfully moving video honoring the heroes of the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing. The 2000 re-issue of Fresh Horses is the only place one can currently find Garth's stunning performance of Bob Dylan's "To Make You Feel My Love," from the movie Hope Floats.
Fresh Horses had the biggest first-week sales of any previous Garth Brooks album, nearly half a million copies. After the first week of its release, eight of the ten songs on the album appeared on the country singles chart, a first in music history. In March of 1996 Garth kicked off a new world tour, a record-setting three year spectacular. He received the NARM President’s Award, the People’s Choice Award for Best Male Musical Performer, the American Music Awards for Favorite Country Male Artist and overall Favorite Artist of the Year, among many other honors.
The 2000 re-issue of Fresh Horses is the only place one can currently find “To Make You Feel My Love.”
Fresh Horses is RIAA certified for sales in excess of 6 million units.
